Burgess Recruitment is looking for a First Mate for a 40m Private Sailing Yacht
Start Date: 7 July 2026
Salary: €6,000 - €7,000 DOE
Leave: 60 days
Qualifications:
* Yachtmaster Offshore commercially endorsed minimum
* OOW advantageous
* Valid STCW and ENG1
* Strong sailing experience preferred
* Schengen visa (if applicable)
Requirements:
* Previous experience as Mate or Senior Deckhand on a similar-sized sailing yacht
* Strong seamanship and deck maintenance knowledge
* Confident assisting with all aspects of vessel operations
* Able to take command of the vessel when required
* Hands-on approach with a positive attitude
* Good organisational and communication skills
* Fluent English essential
* Portuguese language skills advantageous
Other:
* 40m Private Sailing Yacht
* Joining in Turkey
* Cruising programme includes Turkey, Greece, Sardinia and the Caribbean
* The successful candidate will work closely with the Captain and be capable of overseeing the vessel during periods of leave
* The vessel will spend time in the shipyard, therefore candidates with strong maintenance experience will be viewed favourably
* Immediate availability preferred
