We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Chief Officer to join an 80m+ private/charter sailing yacht currently cruising the stunning waters of the South Pacific.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and professional officer with a strong sailing background to be part of an adventurous and dynamic team.
Overview
Experienced, hands-on Chief Officer for a large sailing yacht programme. The role combines deck leadership, sailing performance, and operational management, supporting the Captain across cruising, yard periods, and guest operations.
Qualifications
- Chief Mate <3000GT (Yachts) or higher
- STCW, ENG1, strong ECDIS / GMDSS
- Sailing background essential
Profile and experience
- Practical operator with high standards
- Confident leading under sail and managing manoeuvres
- Able to balance deck work, admin, and leadership
- Chief/2nd Officer on 60m+ sailing yachts
- Strong sailing and rigging capability
- Proven deck leadership and crew management
- Experience with SMS/safety management and compliance
- Exposure to yard/refit periods and contractor coordination
Key Responsibilities
- Lead deck team and all deck operations
- Oversee maintenance, safety, and SMS compliance
- Support navigation, passage planning, and watchkeeping
- Manage sailing operations and performance
- Coordinate yard periods and external contractors
