Burgess Recruitment is looking for a Captain for a 49m Private Sailing Yacht
Start Date: 1 October 2026
Salary: DOE
Leave: DOE / package to be confirmed
Qualifications:
• Master 500 GT (or equivalent)
• Valid STCW
• Valid ENG1
Requirements:
• Strong sailing yacht background with previous command experience
• Proven Atlantic crossing experience as Captain
• Strong Caribbean cruising experience, including the Grenadines
• Excellent crew leadership, management and training skills
• Proactive approach with the ability to oversee preparations and works ahead of an Atlantic crossing
• Confident owner liaison and communication skills
• Comfortable working with an owner and family environment, including children on board
• Looking for a genuinely long-term position
• Italian language skills / Italian Captain preferred, but not essential
Other:
• Expected joining location: Monaco or nearby
• Planned Caribbean itinerary from October/November, including the Grenadines
• The successful Captain will be expected to take an active role in preparing the yacht for the Atlantic crossing
• In-person interviews are planned in Monaco on 4 September
• CVs will be shortlisted in advance of the interview date
