Burgess Recruitment is looking for a Rotational Captain for a 38m (440GT) Private/Charter Motor Yacht
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: DOE (competitive, aligned with experience)
Leave: Equal Rotation (To be confirmed length of time on and off)
Qualifications:
- Master 500gt or higher.
- Valid STCW, ENG1, and all relevant certification
- Strong knowledge of ISM and safety compliance
Requirements:
- Proven Captain experience on 35–50m yachts or strong rotational/relief experience at this level
- Extensive cruising experience in US waters, Bahamas, and Caribbean (essential)
- Mediterranean experience beneficial
- Experience managing larger vessel operations (440GT+)
- Hands-on leadership style
- Strong charter background with guest-facing confidence
- Calm, composed, and consistent under pressure
- Ability to work effectively within a rotational partnership structure

- 38m tri-deck motor yacht with volume and capability comparable to a 50m
- Modern, highly regarded yacht with strong reputation and demand
- Dual-season programme: Caribbean, Bahamas, US East Coast (incl. Nantucket), and Mediterranean
- Transatlantic capable programme
- Owners are engaged and active, with a busy charter schedule
- Seeking a long-term rotational partner for the current Captain
- Candidates should be Europe or US-based for logistical alignment (open nationality)
- This is a high-paced programme requiring adaptability and strong work ethic
